Bill's book launch!
Bill Howe is having a book launch at 8:00 pm on Friday, November 27th at InkTank in Cincinnati. So, for those whose holiday travel takes them to the area I hope to see you then.
InkTank, 1311 Main Street, Cincinnati, OH.
For those of you who can’t make it, the book is available through both the BlazeVOX [books] website
http://www.blazevox.org/bk- bh2.htm
and the SPD Website
http://www.spdbooks.org/ Producte/9781935402435/ translanations-one.aspx
From SPD: Poetry. TRANSLANATIONS ONE is the first major installment of William R. Howe's Emily Dickinson project, translanations. The collection is a homophonic, homolinguistic transformation of Dickinson's poems 500-599. Howe radically, and fantastically, re-invents Dickinson's lyrics while approximating those poems' sound and rhythm patterns: "Rather than just `translating' these poems from English to English," Howe writes, "I have written these poems to the tune of Dickinson, and through that music I am exploring our relationship with language." Listening to one of Howe's "translanations" is like hearing a Dickinson poem after it's been processed by a shrooming babelfish. "Dickinson said that it's poetry if you feel as though the top of your head were taken off. But what if it's the whole head, down to the shoulders?... Read this with a helmet on"--K. Silem Mohammad.

or the poster outside the theater
The Swimmer

backwards
around the corner
The Fencer
Stage combat certification
looks good on a resume
The Wrestler
With another name, wear a tuxedo
or a linen shirt and summer shoes
Here, center ring, stained glass
